Poems by Yuval Gila'd
By Yuval Gila’d
Male or disabled
chicks don’t understand
Why they must stop
Living
after a few hours
much less than
butterflies
“City”
By Yuval Gila’d
A stray cat
has its head stuck
in a tin can
it found in the garbage
and wanders like a blind man
shaking its head
as if it can't believe
what could happen
in the human city
“A Life”
By Yuval Gila’d
A
brave mouse
Lies on its side
On the street
Separating from his childhood
In harrowing calmness
Everything was good
even what was bad
minutes or hours
until the poison
or a
cat
finishes him off
“Poultry”
By Yuval Gila’d
Chickens’ eyes
pass quickly
in tiny cages
in a huge truck
pecking at me
for a second,
Chickens’ eyes
tiny grainy eyes
poultry
for unhuman
highway lives
